Unveiling Philocaly Hair's Ethical Craftsmanship
Nov 29, 2023
While our brand is pretty and pink, we go so much further than that!
The wonderful realm of hair extensions… it's a place we absolutely adore being a part of, but let's be real, it's also an industry filled with hidden truths and a lack of regulation. From frustrated consumers to hair extension entrepreneurs, we took it upon ourselves to implement change by offering a product that goes entirely against the despicable yet standard practices in the extension industry.
From the very beginning of our journey, our commitment to ethical sourcing and transparent practices has set us apart. As we venture into the intricate details of our factory process, rest assured that each strand of hair embodies not just beauty but a commitment to integrity and purpose.
Our journey begins with a meticulous selection process overseen by the experienced general manager of our trusted supplier. With years in the raw hair material industry, our factory manager sets rigorous standards for quality, ensuring that every strand we use is of the highest caliber.
Raw Hair Material - From Countryside to Craftsmanship
Our supplier boasts its own raw hair material factory, setting the stage for a unique and ethical sourcing process. Our dedicated purchasing team ventures into the Chinese countryside to collect virgin braids directly from donors. By eliminating middle traders, we take control of both the quality and cost of our raw materials. This hands-on approach allows us to be accountable for the products we create, ensuring a seamless journey from source to your locks.
The entire process is ethically grounded. We source hair only from donors who willingly contribute, compensating them fairly based on the grade and weight of their hair. Our donors are fully informed that their tresses will undergo colouring, processing, and be sold as extensions.
Crafting Excellence - The Production Process Unveiled
Step 1: Wefting and Stitching
The raw hair material undergoes a meticulous process, starting with the division into small bulks and stitching into wefts. Three threads secure the hair approximately 3 inches from the top. This ensures that the hair remains in its natural alignment throughout subsequent processes, avoiding the risk of inversion.
Step 2: Cold Bleaching
Prior to colouring, our hair goes through cold bleaching technology. The temperature control, maintained at 25℃~30℃, ensures a slow and gentle process. For instance, achieving colour for products may take 4-5 days, but this meticulous approach maximizes the protection of the hair quality.
Step 3: Colouring
The colouring process is an art in itself, with different durations for dark, light, and ultra-light colors. This meticulous approach, coupled with constant comparison to colour rings and rigorous quality checks, ensures that each strand meets our high standards.
Step 4: Hair Hackling
As the coloured hair progresses to become finished products, it undergoes meticulous hackling to maintain uniformity. Our strict 'no upside-down' policy is a fundamental requirement for quality control. Any hair found in disarray is promptly singled out for removal.
